Children need to eat! Your help will provide basic food items to families who have lost their jobs and have a child with special healthcare needs. A child with a disability usually takes a disproportionate amount of a family's finances; especially true for families living in poverty. With your help, children will eat.
During this pandemic, children with special healthcare issues face a greater risk, as they often have compromised immune systems. Parents have lost their jobs due to shut-downs and the impact on the economy. The families live at the edge of poverty during normal times; now they are facing even greater challenges. Due to social distancing recommendations, our school & therapy center is temporarily closed, instead we are focusing on the immediate challenge of food - getting it to the kids.
Our medical professionals will deliver basic food items on their weekly home visits to ensure that all children in the family are getting enough to eat. It's simple - you donate, we buy the food and deliver it to families that don't have enough for everyone to eat.
Our intensive, comprehensive approach results in formerly immobile children learning to walk and use their hands, leading to greater independence. Children previously unable to speak are now able to express themselves. Siblings are able to stay in school, preparing them for better paying jobs. Mothers are able to return to the workforce, knowing their child is being cared for. The social stigma of having a disabled child is greatly lessened as parents regain some control over their lives.
