Hello!
Thanks so much to those who raised funds for our fish pond! With the $630 raised, we have taken a next step. As we require $6,000 to fully implement our resilience design features, we have not been able to complete the project yet, but remain committed to doing so when we can.
The $630 raised allowed us to complete digging the pond to a depth of 3.5ft, bringing us one step closer to a thriving, sustainable aquaculture system! With a deeper pond, fish can better hide from predators, and TYoFU can raise more fish for the community.
A group of local youth participated in the transfer of the fish and pond water, obtaining valuable education about aquaculture in the process.
The remaining $5,370 would allow us to further expand the pond, level the removed soil, add a protective fence to keep predators at bay, plant native flora that supports the ecosystem, and implement other resilience design features. The fish pond will ensure the community has a renewable source of safe, nutritious food and the farm has a larger source of revenue.
Every step brings us closer to enhancing food security and empowering our youth through sustainable fish farming. Thank you so much for your support!
