This project will purchase 05 New computers to re equip a youth computer training center. Mountains of Hope through GlobalGiving donors set up a computer laboratory in Mpigi District, the project is training over 100 youth on computer skills. The center offers Internet access, training and resources to close the Digital Divide in the community where as few as one in 100 youth can use a computer.
The old computers at the facility have become too slow and faint thus making it hard to train 10 or more youth in a day.We cannot conduct regular classes on computer basics and use of the Internet and email. Yet it has become a place where high school students come to do their homework and other constructive activities.
The center will have a special emphasis on providing digital skills to help area residents improve their employment possibilities. Youth classes will go beyond basic digital literacy training to include more advanced classes in such topics as online job search, resume development, and basic Microsoft Word and Excel.
The youth and the public will use the facility for free. Regular classes will be conducted on computer basics and use of the Internet and email.
