By Martha Fitzpatrick Bishai | Director, The Umkhumbane Schools Project
Dear Umkhumbane Doors Team,
Thanks to your generous response to our appeal to help us replace dilapidated doors at our schools, we have now installed the first ten brand new doors at Bonela Secondary School in Cato Manor -- with new hardware and a beautiful coat of green paint on each one!
Our schools have been on their winter break for the past three weeks, and we were able to use this time to get this first round of work done. We have no doubt that the learners and staff will be thrilled to see the fresh look that these new doors bring when they return to school this coming week.
We are so grateful to you for funding these first ten doors in our goal of replacing 50. We will keep working towards this goal, perhaps with a new GlobalGiving microproject for doors now that this one has been retired. You are the foundational funders of this effort and have made a lasting impact on the learning environment of our schools!
Many thanks again!
With our sincere appreciation,
Martha
