Building a library is a key part of empowering the girls at Kranti to be agents of social change in India. The library will make educational resources more accessible and will provide much needed work stations for study and independent reading.
Kranti (Revolution) addresses the problem of trafficking of under-aged women into Mumbai by providing these girls (Revolutionaries) with education, leadership training, career guidance, and the resources they need to achieve their life goals. Kranti's model will have a spiraling effect as the Revolutionaries become empowered enough to: sponsor and mentor younger trafficked women, be the voices of oppressed women across India, and prove that every woman is an intellectual asset, not a liability.
Education is a key tool girls need to develop into confident, independent women who will be regarded as a valuable and necessary force for positive change in India. The new library is just one aspect of the educational resources that the Revolutionaries require. It will provide easy access to books and other resources, as well as much needed study space.
By 2025, Kranti will: Create a new framework for sex worker empowerment focused on choice; develop a sustainable, accountable model for anti-trafficking NGOs; and establish recognition in India that every woman is capable of changing the world.
