At the end of March, Step for Bulgaria Foundation presented 12 high school juniors and seniors with the opportunity to attend a career and professional development fair hosted by our newly founded partner organization, Association Marinela. The youths had the opportunity to meet interesting speakers and to receive some practical advice on the job application and recruitment process, such as how to write a successful curriculum vitae and a cover letter, how to prepare for a job interview and other related questions of common interest. During the day, the youths contacted employers from various industries, including tourism and hospitality, journalism, information technologies and even paralympic sports!
Finding a suitable job is crucial to the wellbeing of at-risk youths in Bulgaria and for their leading of an independent life. Underprivileged young people usually do not have sufficient experience with finding a job and often lack many of the skills necessary for preparing a successful job application. Ensuring that they receive the right vocational training and qualification is a prerequisite for bridging the gap. Specifically, career forums represent a good opportunity for making young people familiar with employers’ requirements and trends in the demand of labor and skills. The event was regarded as interesting and useful by all attendees. Step for Bulgaria will use the momentum gathered at the fair to arrange for a CV and cover letter writing workshop followed by a number of handpicked internship opportunities in the following weeks!
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of YOU, our donors. Thank you! We look forward to continue serving united by our common cause.
Sincerely,
The Step for Bulgaria Foundation team
