This project aims to offer emergency support to survivors of trafficking in our program during the COVID- 19 pandemic. Most of the survivors of trafficking in our program depend on small businesses for their livelihood. However, due to the partial lock down in Kenya, their business have been greatly impacted because they cannot operate. There is a heavy burden on these survivors to provide for their families with businesses closed and their school going children being home due to the lock down.
This project will give funds to survivors depending on their immediate needs, to cushion them for the next 3 months , with the hope that the pandemic will pass.
It will ensure that survivors get their basic needs such as food, paying rent, medical care, clean water during this pandemic period. Additionally, It will lessen survivor's vulnerability to possible human re-trafficking.
This support is for the families of the reintegrated victims. During reintegration, we work both with the family and duty bearers within the community to ensure safety when we take the girls back to the community. We do not wish to see the girls return to shelter due to lack of basic needs and increased vulnerability as a result of this pandemic.
