We are supporting our partner schools in Kenya with monthly cash grants of over 2,000/$2,500 during the Covid crisis to protect the livelihoods of around 50 members of staff who would otherwise go unpaid.
Our partner schools face a cash crisis as a result of school closures due to Covid, which has left them unable to collect financial contributions from parents which fund the salaries of around 50 of the nearly 70 teachers and support staff not on the government payroll.
Our monthly contribution will help ensure that all our partner schools have guaranteed funding to be able to pay teacher and support staff salaries whilst schools remain closed. These staff have accepted a 50% pay cut but without our funding, schools would simply not have the resources to continue paying salaries - even at these reduced levels - and these dedicated staff woud go unpaid at the very time that they need their salaries the most.
By providing these funds we will help protect the livelihoods of around 50 members of staff, allowing them to continue to provide for themselves and their families during the Covid crisis.
