Cyclone Remal, one of the most disastrous cyclones witnessed by Bangladesh, has flooded coastal villages, blown away thatched roofs and left hundreds of thousands of people without power in southern Bangladesh. Through the 'Emergency Response for Cyclone Remal Affected' project, Volunteer for Bangladesh aims to raise funds for the cyclone-affected people of the coastal regionsand provide them with essential food and medicine supplies, bring them to safety and help rebuild the damaged homes.
The effects of cyclone Remal are disastrous, 1.5 lakh homes in the coastal regions of Bangladesh have been destroyed or damaged, fish farmers have incurred losses of over Tk 482 crore, 2.7 crore people are left without power supply, millions don't have access to essential food and medicine supplies. As the people of Bangladesh face such a crisis, community engagement and support are crucial to combat this situation.
The funds raised through this project will be used to provide the flood-affected people with food supplies, and necessary medicines, it will help the volunteers bring these people back to their homes from the shelters and also enable them to fix the damaged homes or help rebuild them.
The project's long-term impact will be to mitigate the effects of cyclone Remal, help restore things back to normal, and share the financial burden of flood-affected people of the coastal areas.
