Amos Trust's emergency appeal is for the work of the Al Ahli Hospital and our other partners seeking to respond to the humanitarian disaster that Gaza is experiencing. We were horrified by the appalling attack on the hospital on 17th October, that left nearly 500 people dead. The hospital has long been seen as a beacon of hope and a place of peace in the heart of Gaza. Hours after the attack the hospital resumed providing emergency healthcare despite the devastation surrounding it.
The bombardment of Gaza has already led to 3,500 deaths, over 12,500 injuries, untold destruction and 1,000,000 displaced people. Families are facing critical shortages of food, water and fuel as well as major sanitation problems. Many are trapped in their homes, with nowhere to flee. Before the crisis, medicine levels were already precariously low. Hospitals had to rely on their own generators as Gaza's sole power plant was only operating four hours a day.
This micro project will help Al Ahli hospital to have access to the funds they need to provide life-saving medical care in Gaza City.
We are long-term partners with Al Ahli hospital on their breast cancer screening programme. This emergency appeal aims to save lives during the current outbreak of violence and to offer life-saving healthcare 24/7 to Gazans.
