Our centre for homeless and abandoned children in urgent need has been supported by Global Giving for many years. During this pandemic period Rescue Junction has received an unprecedented amount of phone calls (freephone 1098) from children and parents who having lost their employment and migrated back from the cities, (often walking hundreds of kilometres) to their own villages and are now unemployed and struggling for food. This microproject is saving children's lives.
The Project decided to provide the food materials for children and family who are really in urgent need and where children are in danger of starving. Our team is very skilled at identifying those in desperate need and are able to respond with immediate help to avoid children going hungry and starving . We have unique contacts and expertise to make sure every child in need can be helped and will be helped. We need your support to maintain the programme and to reach out to every child we can.
When we receive the call for urgent emergency help our dedicated team visit their house and to assess the situation. After offering emergency assistance in the short term we help the family who are often illiterate to link with existing government schemes and ration cards as people living well below the poverty line of 2 US dollars per day. We support them in the application for cards and follow up on a monthly basis to ensure the children and families are getting the help they need.
It is the aim of the trust to engage with the police, railway authorities, the judicial system and local government in helping to provide a child safety network in the district. This has the potential to help thousands of kids.
