Over 1000 Children Enrolled In Emergency School

By Bem Timothy | Project Coordinator

Bem Timothy is the SI4DEV sponsored community project partner to coordinate provision of emergency education to children in IDP camps. He is working with BePEP and the local stakeholders to ensure sustainability.

After enumerating over 1200 children in the camp, more than half of the school population is in Early childhood care and development and primary 1.

Mrs. Kajoh, a seasoned educator came to train the local community volunteers who will be teaching the children. She has a masters degree in curriculum instruction and assessments and is board- certified in the state of Texas, USA to teach Early childhood through secondary school.

The challenge here notably is the ratio of teachers to pupils. The teachers are struggling to contain the pupils. One class has more than a 200 pupils to teach.

The reward is that these pupils who never knew or learnt any thing about alphabets and numbers are beginning to get eager to learn more inspite of their conditions of learning.

Thank you for all your support.
