As Ramadan approaches, Egyptian families face unprecedented challenges with food prices soaring. Soon, hundreds of families will begin fasting without means to break their fast. After successfully supporting 100 families in 2023 and 500 families in 2024, we've identified 500 vulnerable families who urgently need assistance before the blessed month begins. Without immediate intervention, these families will struggle to secure their basic iftar and suhoor meals.
In Egypt, extreme poverty and soaring food prices have left hundreds of families unable to afford basic meals. Many parents skip meals to feed their children, and during Ramadan 1446H, this crisis deepens. Working families earning less than $2 per day must choose between paying rent or buying food. Without immediate support, 500 identified families, including elderly, widowed mothers, and those with special needs, will have nothing for Iftar and Suhoor.
Our project will provide 500 pre-identified vulnerable Egyptian families with comprehensive Ramadan food boxes before the holy month begins. Each box contains essential items sufficient for a family of 4-5 members, ensuring they have adequate nutrition for both iftar and suhoor meals. Through our established local networks and experienced distribution system, we'll deliver these boxes directly to families, enabling them to focus on worship rather than worry about their next meal.
Beyond immediate hunger relief, this project creates lasting positive effects. When families don't worry about securing their next meal, they can focus their limited resources on education, healthcare, and sustainable income opportunities. Our previous Ramadan campaigns show that food security during this crucial month helps families maintain dignity, prevent debt, and break the cycle of poverty. Children stay in school, parents maintain employment, and communities grow stronger together.
