Summary

Poverty prevents millions of Nigerian youths from completing their education. As a result, many will never attend college. Consequently, a pattern of generational poverty occurs because they have to settle for menial and low wage jobs. This 4-year college education scholarship opens doors for less privileged youths to acquire knowledge and skills for improved opportunities. They will be able to secure better employment. This transforms their lives and breaks the cycle of poverty.

Challenge

Education is a critical factor in economic and social development in developing nations. Yet millions of youths in Nigeria are unable to get an education due to poverty. Over the next five years, our goal is to invest in education by providing scholarships for 250 less privileged youths to complete their college education thereby enabling them to optimize the immense potential inherent within them and become assets to their families and nation at large.

Solution

This project will provide ten merit-based, 1-year, college scholarships to youths from low-income families. These youths have high GPAs, show leadership qualities, exemplary character and strong will to succeed. The scheme restores hope to students who have great aspirations and desire higher education by providing an opportunity to progress through college without financial anxiety.

Long-Term Impact

The return on our investment in the education of the youth is far-reaching extending beyond them to their families, society and to the nation. Our goal is to continue to provide scholarships for deserving youths, to enable them to maximize their potential, increase their prospects for a prosperous future, thereby reducing youth poverty level in Nigeria and contributing to the national growth and development.
