By Juliana Stiles | Operations Assistant, JA of the Delaware Valley
Thanks to the generous support of our Microproject donors, Junior Achievement of Delaware Valley was able to deliver JA Economics for Success to twenty-two eighth grade students in the School District of Philadelphia. This class was part of a school-wide JA In A Day program at Charles W. Henry School in North Philadelphia held on December 6, 2012.
Lockheed Martin volunteers taught the programs delivered on this day. The Microproject-funded class was taught by three Lockheed Martin volunteers, two of whom have taught JA programs in the past. The eighth grade program, JA Economics for Success, explores personal finance, discusses students’ career options based on their skills and interests, and demonstrates the economic benefits of staying in school.
Junior Achievement of Delaware Valley holds school-wide JA In A Day programs at multiple schools in Philadelphia and throughout the surrounding region. JA In A Day allows students to receive JA programs in a high-impact way from experienced corporate professionals.
