Yesterday, Uganda’s Ministry of Health confirmed a new imported Ebola case. After 16 days with no new infections, the national countdown reset to zero. Cumulative cases: 20. The Bundibugyo strain has no approved vaccine or treatment.
What this means on the ground in Kampala right now:
Fear spreads faster than the virus. Markets are quieter. Mothers are keeping children home from school. WhatsApp rumors about “mystery illness” are everywhere. Government door-to-door teams can’t reach every home fast enough.
This is why your donation TODAY saves lives.
Mountains of Hope Children’s Ministries is already in 5 villages in Mpigi,Wakiso and Kampala doing frontline prevention: community health workers screening, educating, and stopping misinformation before cases explode.
Your USD donation = Immediate action:
$27 = 1 VHT kit: gloves, thermometer, sanitizer for 1 community health worker to screen 100 homes this week
$54 = 200 Luganda Ebola prevention posters + megaphone time at 1 market
$108 = 1 week of handwashing stations + soap for 1 school of 400 children
$270 = Full PPE kit for 10 community health workers for 2 weeks of door-to-door screening
Funding status: We’ve raised $93 of $2,795. That’s 3%. We need $2,702 more to fund 4 weeks of emergency response before the virus spreads further.
With no vaccine for Bundibugyo strain, prevention IS the treatment. Temperature checks, handwashing, safe burial awareness, and fighting rumors saves lives.
The next 48 hours matter most. Donate $27. Fund one health worker. Share this report.
Uganda has beaten Ebola before through community action. With you, we’ll do it again.
All activities follow WHO plus Uganda Ministry of Health protocols. Updates posted weekly.
