48 hours later and our Mountains of Hope team is still on the ground in Kyengera and 2 more villages in Wakiso District. Uganda Ministry of Health now reports total Ebola 19 confirmed cases, 2 deaths in Kampala as of June 17. No new cases reported in past 5 days. That shows the situation is stable but still active. as of 22nd June. The risk remains high with no vaccine available for Bundibugyo strain.
Since our last update we have screened people and educated residents door-to-door. We added 2 more handwashing stations at taxi parks and trained 8 more community volunteers to help with temperature checks. Vendors are now using hand sanitizer before handling food.
Total raised so far: $100. That funds PPE, sanitizer, and transport for our team for more days. Each $10 still screens 50 people and gives a family prevention supplies.
Cases are rising but so is community awareness. Markets are busy and people are asking for screening. We need to move faster to stay ahead of transmission.
Please share this project again today. Your donation and share reach new donors who can help us cover 2 more villages next week. We will post Update 3 in 2 days with new numbers.
Thank you for keeping Kyengera safe.
