We are about to build a brand new dormitory room for our special pupils at Siaka school. Presently, all 20+ kids are sleeping in two dormitories. That means they are sleeping in groups of two or three on one bed. We want to provide every pupil their own bed.
Siaka is a boarding school and receives 21 deaf and blind children aged between 5-18 years from rural and poor areas. The school depends entirely from local and international donors. Current status, won't allow the children to sleep alone. They have to share it with others. Apart from discomfort of not having privacy or good night sleep; there is also sanitary problem. In case that one or more kids are sick they are still forced to share the bed with others. Therefore, the disease spreads.
The school has already started building a small complex of new dormitories a few years ago. However, this project will take a long time to accomplish; we have decided to start building one room after another. Our main goal is to provide one bed for one child at the end of this year.
Thanks to your help through Siaka special school, those lovely children will have a conducive environment to study which will promote good results. They will not feel stigmatized when they grow up and will find a proper place in the society. Disability is not Inability!
