Malnutrition in Uganda remains a significant barrier to the growth and development of children in disadvantaged communities. The project aims to combat childhood malnutrition through interventions that focus on improving access to nutritious food raise awareness on proper nutrition and support local food systems. The project aims to reduce the prevalence of malnutrition, enhance health and well-being of children to ensure their long-term physical and cognitive development in the community areas.
Child malnutrition is a pressing public challenge that has affected many children in disadvantaged families in Mayuge District. Malnutrition encompasses both under nutrition , directly impairs a child's growth, cognitive development and overall well-being. Lack of nutrient food lead to stunted growth, weakened immune systems and with no proper health facilities, poverty among the community, children's lives are exposed to great danger that in most cases can lead to children losing their lives .
The project will essentially address childhood malnutrition by providing nutritious food to all children in the community and schools in order to foster healthier generations and break the cycle of poverty in all under served communities. To ensure availability of nutrient-rich foods in schools and communities by collaborating with food suppliers and all stakeholders. The project will raise awareness by educating families about balanced diets to reduce stunted and underweight children .
Keeping the girl child in school will be one of the strategies that will increase awareness of the girl child rights, human rights, increased knowledge on the dangers of child marriage, young people empowered from the capacity building and the entrepreneurship skills will enhance development. The government will be able to develop supportive policies and allocate resources to increase health, education and economic opportunities for married and girls at risk of early marriages.
