Battered American mothers who flee foreign countries with their children home to the USA to escape abuse have to start over from scratch. Without child support, alimony or half the marital assets, they must secure safe housing and jobs. One of the biggest obstacles is being able to afford child care for their babies and toddlers. With this project, we will be able to pay for one month of day care at $500 per month for 5 battered mothers.
Battered American mother's that have fled home for safety to the USA with their babies and toddlers need to find safe day care while they get back on their feet, find a job and a place to live. Some are able to rely on family members or friends, but many can't return to where they have connections because of safety concerns. We want to provide day care for 5 mothers for one month while they re-establish their lives in the USA.
Five battered American mothers will have daycare for one month for their babies and toddlers enabling them to secure housing and a job knowing their children are safe and secure.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
