Earlier this month we were able to bring Sarah, her son Daniel and their dog Ruffles home to the USA after fleeing abuse in Australia. They are currently living in a domestic violence shelter and Ruffles is staying with a foster family. Sarah has found an apartment that takes dogs. They need first, last and a deposit to move into their own home. Sarah has about 2/3rds of the money but needs an additional $650. With this project Sarah, Daniel and Ruffles will have a safe place to live and heal.
American women fleeing violence from abroad with their children and pets often struggle to survive. Sarah, Daniel and Ruffles need to get out of the shelter and into their own home.
This family will be able to re-build their lives free of abuse back home. Sarah already has a job lined up, she just needs a little more help.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
