We are currently creating a kitchen garden in order to give the school free and healthy food and make it more independent and sustainable.
Siaka school is a boarding school and receives 21 deaf and blind children aged between 5-18 years from rural and poor areas. The school depends entirely from local and international donors. Feeding the pupils is a daily challenge. We want to create a full kitchen garden in order to provide the children with a healthy and sustainable diet. ** A kg of potatoes harvested is a kg WE DON`T HAVE TO BUY! **
We are planning to plant : - potatoes , sweet potatoes, vegetables (cabbages, onions, carrots), avocado tree, mango tree etc. Our main objective is to harvest at least 2 kg of vegetables a week and to expand the kitchen garden as soon as possible. For that we need to invest in seeds, fruit tree ,farm tools (shovel, pickaxe, pot.) and fence.
Thanks to your help through Siaka special school, those lovely children will have a conducive environment to study which will promote good results. They will not feel stigmatized when they grow up and will find a proper place in the society. Disability is not Inability!
