Thank you for helping us increase college access for young adults! The LA Corps seeks to increase college enrollments and career pathways among young adults(18-24 years old). This project directly supports career counseling and career exploration activities for first generation high school students entering college for the first time. Participants will receive support with career exploration, enrolling in college courses, applying for financial aid and scholarships.

LA Conservation Corps is committed to promoting career pathways in the environnmental sector including living wage employment opportunities with the City of Los Angeles. The LA Conservation Corps recently partnered with Repower LA, a strong coalition of environmental and community organizations committed to increasing energy efficiency in Los Angeles. The coalition hosted a Green the Block event where the Department of Water and Power presented the Home Energy Efficiency program and the Utility Pre-Craft training program. The Utility Pre-craft Training program is hosted by Local 18 and housed in Los Angeles Trade Tech College. Students who enroll in the construction program and LATTC earn college credits. Corpsmembers learned about the importance of energy efficiency, employment opportunities with DWP, construction programs in community colleges, and community outreach techniques. A team of corpsmembers canvassed the Boyle Heights neighborhood and reached 61 rate payers to promote the free energy efficiency program. The College and Careers staff is working with each student who attended the event to assist with college enrollment and financial aide services.

Thank you for helping us improve the lives of first generation college students! We hope you continue to support the LA Conservation Corps.
