With LI's help, young men and women in Nigeria have created new businesses in fish-farming, computer repair, electrical work, welding, tailoring and automobile repair Each business has not only created jobs but provided the capital to send children to school, improve homes and pave new roads These businesses leaders are dedicated and want to open new shops around the region creating even more jobs and offering services communities sorely need. This project will give them the training to do so
Northern Nigeria is plagued by religious and political turmoil, terrorist groups like the Boka Haram push young men into terrorist activities every day. In the past 5 years Leadership Initiatives has been one of the only alternatives by working with young leaders to create over 40 businesses within Nigeria. Each business has grown substantially since their inception and many leaders are ready to expand their businesses to other regions of the country giving other young men and women a chance
This microproject will create a Secondary Business Education Program Center in Bauchi State, a focal point for the heart and soul of Nigeria. Business leaders from LI and throughout the region will apply for secondary business education classes to teach them financial, personal and business management for multiple locations. Leaders will have a year round resource center for problems and questions that will arise when they expand. The center will also become a hub for potential investors.
Develop independent profit-generating businesses that serve as models for growth in surrounding communities. Project beneficiaries fill voids in the local economy while improving their families' health, education and financial stability. Previous leaders have sent their brothers, sisters and children to school, helped invest in new businesses within the community, offered new services to community members such as the disabled, establishing infrastructure for the future growth of Nigeria.
