MANILA, Philippines - About 65 street families living on the side of an abandoned building survived a possible disaster after its wall collapsed due to heavy rain and strong winds brought by Typhoon Ulysses, November 13 morning in Ermita, Manila.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Department of Public Service (DPS) in collaboration with the Manila Police District (MPD) immediately launched a rescue operation and the survivors were taken to the church by the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Guidance in Ermita for their shelter as typhoon Ulysses hits.
As we continue our #DeliveringHope Project, we once again distributed relief goods to street children and their families.
We started distributing aid to street families who were victims of the collapse of the wall in Ermita, Manila during typhoon Ulysses in Metro Manila. Food street packs, hygiene kits, vitamins, cooked meals, and clothes were received by 65 street families.
We thank the people who quickly sent their help so that we could immediately deliver the needs of the said families.
Donors: Deutsche Bank Singapore for food packs, Cummins for hygiene kits, Poten-Cee for vitamins, Fo Guang Shan Foundation & Buddha's Light Int'l Association Philippines for face shields, clothe donations from Go family, Legon family, Laurel family, and from the employees of Novo Supermarket Juan Luna Branch. Thank you very much!
