Many nonprofits in the GlobalGiving community are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Programming and revenue streams have been drastically altered in response to social distancing, office closures, and other necessary safety measures. Donations to this initiative will help nonprofits continue to operate and fulfill their missions during this difficult time.
Some nonprofits have been forced to cancel galas and other critical fundraising events many months in the making. Others need to quickly find programming alternatives as classrooms, community spaces, and other options are shut down.
In recognition of this period of hardship, GlobalGiving is making $1,000 microgrants to at least 100 vetted nonprofit partners in our community who tell us they need it. We'll trust that nonprofits will put the money, however inadequate, to good use. They know what their communities need right now better than anyone else. Your donation will enable GlobalGiving to expand this microgrants initiative.
Too often, nonprofits operate on shoestring budgets, and an economic event of this scale can be devastating to their long-term sustainability. Your donation today can relieve hardship and help a nonprofit continue its mission in this challenging time for all of us.
Every microproject is intended to use the donations it receives in accordance with its stated description; however, it is important to provide project leaders with the flexibility to maximize the potential benefit from the donations they receive. This means that your donation may be used as a part of the main project that supports this microproject, specifically Coronavirus Relief Fund. In this event, the project leader is required to post an update to the microproject detailing the results and reasons behind this change.
If you or any other donor is unhappy with the way their funds have been used, he or she can reallocate their donation using the GlobalGiving guarantee.
