Free services to save lives

Dear our supportive Whisper family,

Here we are with another update regarding our work during the coronavirus situation in Uganda.

We are ever following the latest happenings from all media sources, and organizations such as Ministry of Health and from the government of Uganda keeping us updated on the situation.

We are also in touch with several other organizations, and also we get several messages and phone calls from desperate people who struggling to survive right now.

Thanks to your overwhelming support, our organization made a huge decision, in fact the biggest in the history of our operations in the medical field and this is to carry out 10 day free medical services to everyone. This means free peadiatric consultations, unlimitted admissions, free maternity services, free scans, free minor and major surgeries.

Only the first day of this announcement, we got 60% more patients, and the next day we got 75 more patients then we did during the lock down. Children are coming in high numbers, several of them with severe anaemia, and yesterday we received a child with a 3rd degree burn.

Our hospital normally receives around 30-60 patients per day who can afford to contribute with $8 for our services, and out of those 30% were emergencies, however during the lock down we could only receive max of 5-9 patients per day, and our emergency and NICU rooms were literaly empty.

I would like to share with you one of the story, that was put publically yesterday about one of our patient, that used our free emergency transport and services when she was in complicated labor at home.

We trully admire and love your financial contribution towards our appeal. Whisper is now the only medical facility in a huge wide area that offers free services that are fully funded for the Ugandan people.

A story from Caroline:

God will surely make a way where there seems to be no way! So thankful to Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital for your generous offer of care to the community at a time as this.

God is so wonderful and He has wonderful plans for everyone. This lady (my neighbor) has been expecting and had long waited for her child for the pregnancy had lasted for longer than 9 months. Though she also didn't have enough money for delivery, she couldn't wait any longer to have her baby. Day by day she requested us to pray with her which we did but also encouraged her to wait on the Lord's perfect timing.

See what wonderful things the Lord has done for her! Everyday she worried about how she will get to the hospital, where she will get the money to pay the midwives, how she'll be sustained at hospital, and so many things as you know. But amazingly, On her labor day, Yesterday, 29th of April, is when I saw a post from Whispers hospital declaring all its medical services free until the 10th of May! I wrote to aunt Veronika to get a more detailed information explaining to her how my sweet friend is in labor and needed help. She immediately sent me the driver's number and requested me to call him for help.

As soon as I called, I saw Mr. Kaka parking in front of our house to drive us to the hospital.(Thanks Mr. kaka!). To cut the story short, as soon as we got there, we were welcomed by bright faces at the reception and given a free admission. Later we were taken to the Maternity ward where we were catered for like princesses but all for free as announced. Free nice food, free cold and warm water, free beddings, free everything!!

My friend was later taken for free operation and treatment which would have coated her 1 million Ugandan Shillings ($277)! Isn't God great?

She doesn't have a Facebook account but she requested me to post and let you know that "she's filled with amazement and this Lord's kindness she has received through the Whispers Team she will never forget! Thanks for bringing hope to the hopeless in this lockdown!"

Special thanks to sweet Veronika, who although she wasn't at the hospital, made every possible communication to have us helped and kept on messaging me to know how we were doing until the last minute. Many thanks too; to Dr. Isaac, (You're such a special and talented man as per doing your job), nurse Sharon, (So Beautiful and kind), nurse Peace, and everyone! LONG LIVE AUNT VERO, LONG LIVE WHISPERS, LONG LIVE IT'S DONORS!
