This project will build an additional classroom in the school to keep up with growing number of pupils. Our current Class 4 pupils will be able to move up to a new class. Due to a limitation of funds we are only able to build one class at a time and as the foundation for our new Class 5 has already been laid we are now keen to commence construction of the classroom as soon as possible.
In January 2019 a new classroom is required for the current Class 4 to move up to. A new classroom will allow us to receive a new intake of pre-school nursery children. Pupils are currently learning in classrooms constructed out of corrugated iron sheeting. During the hot dry season the temperatures rise inside making it very uncomfortable for pupils to concentrate. In addition the noise levels in class can be high making learning difficult as it becomes a distraction for the adjoining classes.
The building will be constructed out of stone as this type of building material will keep classroom cool in the hot dry season and reduce noise levels to a minimum thereby improving the quality of education pupils receive.
Having a comfortable classroom environment enhances student learning improving the quality of education we provide. Many of the children in our community are missing a big part of their education due to unaffordable fees. As Roko 20 grows we will be in a better position to provide a free quality education to even more of the community's disadvantaged children. By doing so we will one day transform the lives of these children helping them to break out of the cycle of poverty.
