Challenge

Computers and Internet with teenage mothers supports the National Department of Education program to integrate media and technology in training. With your help, even a village can take part, which doesn't have the funds on its own and give teens here the same advantages of children in wealthier areas. With a computer lab of 15 machines, each class would rotate for weekly lessons-maybe an assignment to create a story on MS Word or a few PowerPoint slides, make a painting, go through an interact

Solution

The teenager mothers want computers and internet for capacity building to enhance their future career opportunities. It's the next best option after having a disadvantage and vulnerable life. Computer and internet are a good skills to learn. Computer and internet ability: helps obtain life and livelihood skills; opens up job and education options in all areas, such as tourism, arts, business, medicine, teaching, etc. helps young mothers engage in the world beyond their village.

Long-Term Impact

This project will serve as a catalyst for adolescents to delay sexual initiation, reduce the risk among sexually active youths, and reduce the incidence of pregnancy and/or STIs by targeting 100 adolescents and teenage mothers yearly in 10 communities of 3 identified regions in Cameroon. By 2015, SDI will establish an Institute to provide life and livelihood education to pregnant and nursing teenage mothers, thus giving teenage mothers an opportunity to become leaders of their own cause
