The Center for Arab American Philanthropy's Teen Grantmaking Initiative (TGI) is the only Arab American youth philanthropy group in the country. The award-winning TGI program teaches high school students about community issues, grantmaking, nonprofit management, communication and community leadership. This project will not only support a variety of education and health-related projects, it also presents an opportunity for minority youth to make decisions about social change in their community.
The Detroit area, and Michigan as a whole continues to face a number of challenges, and desperately needs strong youth advocates to spark change at the grassroots level.
The funding of this microproject will enable 10 TGI members to attend the annual Youth Grantmakers Summer Leadership Conference hosted by the Council of Michigan Foundations. The Michigan Community Foundation's Youth Project committee plans and facilitates an annual summer conference geared towards providing youth grantmakers with tools to more effectively lead their respective councils as well as develop their individual leadership skills.
By supporting the TGI program, you will give minority youth a voice for change in their community, while also benefiting a multitude of individuals served by education and health nonprofits.
