St. Mary's Mukhuma has been donated a 10,000L water tank by SafariCom, a Kenyan telecoms network. However, this tank has sat empty and idle for months as the school has been unable to afford to build a system to put it into use. Our charity, Education Partnerships Africa, is currently working with the school, and are looking for additional funds to help put the tank into use, and provide the students of St. Mary's with safe water for cooking and drinking.

The 355 students at St. Mary's Secondary School currently have to walk a 4km round trip to fetch water for cooking, washing, drinking and use in their science lessons. This water is unpurified and as well as causing students to take time off school due to water borne diseases, leads them to take time out of their lessons. This has a direct negative impact on their health, educational experience and life chances.
Our charity, Education Partnerships Africa have a strong and ongoing working relationship with the school and its headteacher, Madam Jerida. Three charity workers (Salina, Ben and Rob) are currently living with Madam Jerida and are thus perfectly placed to work with the local community to design and implement a system to work around this tank - granted that they have adequate funding!
