Challenge

Today's businesses want to ensure that tomorrow's workers, who currently in classrooms across the region, are adequately educated and equipped with professional skills that can lead their company into the future. This is particularly important in the Twin Cities urban core, where many students come from economically challenged backgrounds that can create barriers to future success. Minneapolis Edison is a school within this area where students can benefit from enhanced learning opportunities.

Solution

Through their participation in the JA Titan program, Minneapolis Edison students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge that reflect success in the business world. The program is uniquely designed to foster creativity, test leadership skills and demonstrate the competitive nature of the free enterprise system while highlighting educations critical role in the process. Through JA Titan, Minneapolis Edison students will get tools that will help them succeed in school and life.

Long-Term Impact

It's been proven that students who receive JA six times during their school career are 90% more likely to graduate from high school. The goal of our project will be for youth to develop attitudes aligned with high school graduation and 21st century skills that prepare them for success. In addition, JA programs improve student academic performance and achievement leading to increased graduation rates.
