In Uganda, 110,000 children are living with HIV, with adolescents being disproportionately affected. Mountains of Hope is building a perimeter wall to safeguard a safe space for young adolescents, including those living with HIV, to access vital services
After USAID funding ended, the program struggled to mobilize young adolescents due to lack of a safe space, hindering their access to essential services. Uganda's Ministry of Health reports that only 63% of HIV-positive children receive antiretroviral therapy, highlighting the need for supportive services
With a $3000 grant from Global Giving, Mountains of Hope will construct a perimeter wall around its new safe space, ensuring a secure environment for young adolescents to thrive.
The perimeter wall will empower young adolescents, especially those living with HIV, to access counselling, life skills, and apprenticeship programs, building confidence and a brighter future.
