Hello from Chiedza!
We are happy to share with you the progress on our project building a classroom block. Although we have not mobilized enough funds to complete the project but we want to thank you because at least we have started something. We are planning to build the classroom at the center where 100 boys and girls are coming to attend their second chance education classes.
We have so far managed to get a builder to draw us a draft plan, which we will need to finalize at a later stage. We are planning to have 2 classrooms but with the available resources we can manage to start with 1 but with your support, we will get there.
We are also excited to say that despite the limited funds, the project is becoming a reality. At the moment our children are on holiday and will be back on the 13 of May when schools will be open for second term. What is exciting is that children are still committed to come to school and learn under the shade with the hope of being under some shelter one day. We have prepared 10 children ready for reintegration beginning May 2014.
One of the volunteer facilitators for the out of school program, Mr Cheka* commented that, " At least a classroom will improve the quality of work for us and the children..."
We look forward to more support and will continue to update you on the progress on the project. Meanwhile, we kindly request you to continue supporting the program through our active project, " Second Chance Education for Orphans in Mbare" which is still active on Global Giving.
Thank you.
* Mr. Cheka- not his real name.
