There are 124 orphans and vulnerable children benefitting from the second chance programme at Chiedza Center. Chiedza is faced with a challenge of providing a classroom shelter for learning. The children are learning under a tree and in open space exposed to harsh weather conditions. The children will benefit a conducive learning environment which will improve their performance in class. Learning outside also causes children to be distracted instead of concentrating during lessons.
We provide second chance education to orphans and vulnerable children who dropped out of school. After going through accelerated learning program, they are reintegrated back into school. The community study group prepares the children for school readiness and reduce stigma when reintegrated. The project will build a 1 X 2 classroom block to provide shelter for the children during classes.
Education is the key to opportunities and unlocking potential in human beings. In investing in education the country benefits in having citizens who are better able to develop their nation thereby reducing poverty. It also reduces the exposure to immediate risks for children such as early marriages, unwanted pregnancies, drug and substance abuse and theft which are social ills. Literacy enables children to tap in the opportunities on the global market.
