We're encouraging people to reach out to someone they care about and connect over a virtual cup of tea or coffee this winter for Brew Monday. Winter has a reputation for being one of the hardest seasons. Our new research found that the start of the cold days and long nights have heightened feelings of isolation for those already experiencing loneliness due to the pandemic. Now more than ever, sharing a cuppa is more than a drink - it's about reaching out, checking in and staying connected.
The third Monday in January, thought to be "Blue Monday", is being turned into Brew Monday to encourage everyone to reach out to people. Feeling alone with your problems can have a big impact on your mental health. Samaritans is asking people to check in with those they care about for a cup of tea and chat - and a biscuit or two. It doesn't have to be a Monday or a cup of tea, just taking time to really listen to another person could help them work through what's on their mind.
It has been a winter like no other. The challenges that many face during this season have been felt more acutely this year with the pandemic. Your donation will help us be there for someone who's struggling to cope. Every donation can bring warmth to someone at their toughest time.
Every call we answer could be the one that saves or changes someone's life - the call that ends with someone finding the strength to keep going.
