Last November we launched a micro-project called, Back to school campaign for 5 child centers in CR!. This campaign raised money for the equipment of all the classrooms in the five child centers Fundación DEHVI operates. As we shared on a previous project report, the children were extremely happy with their new pedagogical toys and materials that we were able to buy thanks to your generous donations!
Therefore, I would like to share with you a follow up story on the success of this micro-project.
Gabriel is a 3 year-old boy that attends Fundación DEHVI’s child center located in San Juan de Dios de Desamparados. Gabriel’s teacher, Teacher Vero, had a conversation with him where Gabriel shared with her which was his new favorite toy/material from the donations they received in January for their first day of [pre]school. This was their conversation:
Teacher Vero: Which is your new favorite toy?
Gabriel: The one where you find things.
Teacher Vero: What do you like to do with the new toy?
Gabriel: I like to find pairs!!
Teacher Vero: What do you use it for?
Gabriel: To play!
Teacher Vero: Do you share it?
Gabriel: Yes, with my classmates!!
Teacher Vero: Why do you share it?
Gabriel: Because I like to!!
Teacher Vero: Tell me about a happy moment you have had with this toy.
Gabriel: When Yeifren finds a pair because he is my best friend.
As you can see, you have not only supported the cognitive development of the children with the new pedagogical toys, but with your support, they are understanding that learning is fun! They are also learning to share and to be happy about their friends’ successes!
This micro-project already came to an end but I encourage you to keep contributing to our main project, Sponsor +300 children in need through education either through another donation, through recurring donations, or just by telling your family and friends about us.
Thank you for believing in Costa Rica’s childhood and thank you for contributing to their education and their happiness as well!
Kind regards,
Inge Hernández Beck
