The project aims to create awareness on child sexual abuse among the children who study in our special schools. The increasing number of incidences of child sexual abuse, warrants special emphasis on sexual abuse. The children will be taught what is sexual abuse and simple techniques to prevent themselves from sexual abuse.
Child sexual abuse is an ubiquitous problem than we realize. It impacts EVERY community and EVERY person across the globe. 1 in 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday. About one in seven girls and one in 25 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18. Only about 38% of child victims disclose the fact they have been sexually abused. Some never disclose. This project aims to create awareness on child sexual abuse among the children.
The project aims at creating awareness on child sexual abuse among the 100 special school (for child labourers) children. It will give awareness on knowing warning signs of potentially abusive situations, like inappropriate boundary setting between adults and children, and ways to address these concerns. The children will be taught to safeguard themselves from abusive situations and/or persons.
The creation of awareness on child sexual abuse will help the children in safeguarding themselves from sexual abuse. This in the long run will reduce the number of incidences of child sexual abuse.
