This project will provide books, school bags, pens, and other educational material as well as pay the school fees for 18 internally displaced children and orphans affected by the Anglophone Crisis in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
The Cameroon Anglophone Crisis has caused the internal displacement of over 712 644 persons from the North West and South West regions. A huge majority of internally displaced parents have lost their source of income and are unable to send their children to school. For over 4 years, several internally displaced children have been deprived of their rights to education due to the crisis and lack of financial assistance. This project will assist these parents to send their children back to school.
This project will identify 6 highly vulnerable internally displaced children and orphans who despite the odds and years out of school continue to show resilience and hunger for education. These children will be provided with financial assistance to purchase school bags, pens, books and pay for their school fees. A caseworker from Reach Out will accompany these children and purchase the items to ensure the donations are used solely for the children's education needs.
Children who have been out of school for over 4 years will be able to regain their rights to education. This will reduce their exposure to insecurity and social vices including possible radicalization and recruitment into armed groups.
