Corrientes (Argentina) is burning. In the last few days, the wildfire became out of control, affecting a vast ecosystem that contains flora and fauna only found in this area. Thousands of families evacuated their lands and homes. There are about 300 volunteer firefighters and civilians working to contain the fire. This project will provide them with new equipment, including gloves, helmets, boots, and firefighter backpacks - essential elements that have suffered the most from wear.
Corrientes declared 'ecological and environmental disaster zone' due to the struggles that fire has caused in the region. Almost 10% of the province is in ashes, namely 800.000 hectares. Considering that the area depends mainly on agriculture, this situation will harm the economy and people's lives. Also, weather and geographic conditions in Corrientes are challenging, and most of the outbreaks areas have difficult access.
We support the work of Fundacion Bomberos de Argentina (Firefighters of Argentina Foundation) by giving needed supplies to fight against the fire.
These fires are causing the destruction of thousands of species and living beings in the forests and wetlands of Argentina, especially in Corrientes. Care for flora and fauna is a short, medium, and long-term commitment. We need to ensure the protection of our only home, Earth, and the integrity and dignity of the people while contributing to their development.
