Heavy rainfall is not uncommon in the jungles of Guatemala, but sometimes the effects of global climate change make these events stronger and happen in smaller stretches of time. This can and will damage infrastructure, the single jobo tree (Spondias mombin) damaged 8 enclosures, the roof the veterinary clinic and nearly missed the incinerator.
Thanks to the donations in this microproject we were able to reconstruct most of these damages, the priority was the enclosures, specially avian quarantine, as this is the first step for the process of rehabilitation and we were aproaching high intake times. The second priority was maintenance 1 which held spider monkeys at the time, the monkeys were unharmed but needed to be moved to a different enclosure while repairs and improvements were made. The roof the clinic was fixed and reinfored.
Thanks to the donors of this project and the dedication of our staff the costs for the fixing were covered.
