This project will allow Marvens to take his TOEFL English exam. Marvens was a self-taught English student when enrolled at the English in Mind (EIM) Institute in late 2014. Extremely advanced, he placed at the highest level and graduated the next year. Marvens now wants to take his TOEFL so that he can study computer programming overseas. Ultimately he wants to build a dignified, professional career - but he can't afford to pay for classes or the expensive exam on his own. So, he needs you.
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of people live on less than $2 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is a demand for English speakers. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices. There are also opportunities for Haitians to to find university scholarships. But there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Marvens, cannot afford to attend these schools, or take exams, and are trapped in poverty.
Your donations will allow Marvens to prepare for and take his TOEFL exam. By ensuring that Marvens can take his TOEFL English exam, you can help him prove his ability and secure a university scholarship .
Your donations will give Marvens the means to build a career and support himself and his family into the future. This will let them escape poverty for good.
