Comando Matico is a collective of indigenous and mestizo volunteers using alternative and traditional medicine to treat COVID-19 and other diseases in the area of Yarincacocha. This includes treatment methods like vaporizations, syrups and massages with medicinal herbs like the the famous matico.
The amount raised through GlobalGiving donations has been used to facilitate the mobility to our patients homes for 2 weeks.
Thanks to the generous GlobalGiving community we have been able to treat 15 pacients this way. During our home visits we have encountered many people with COVID-19 aftermath effects, phisical aswell as psycological. We decided to share this information with other activists aswell as representatives of the public health system at a dialogue meeting in our office.
We are looking forward to continue supporting the Shipibo-Konibo community with our other projects!
