This project will provide a year of nutritious food for Chanini. Before the 2010 earthquake, nine year old Chanini was cared for by her grandmother, along with nine other kids. But after the earthquake, their grandmother couldn't afford to look after all ten children, so she left Chanini at the HTDC orphanage. Chanini loves to sing and dance, and she looks forward to school every day. But without nutritious meals to keep her growing, Chanini's future will be bleak.
As an orphan, Chanini is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There isn't an effective nationwide child protection service operating in Haiti to provide for her basic needs. This means that, without your help, Chanini may have to go without nutritious meals, leaving her more vulnerable to illness and less healthy.
By donating today, you'll help us provide the food Chanini needs to stay healthy. Note that the orphanage is home to around thirty children. Donations to this project will cover Chanini's share of the food costs over a year, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.
