This project will change the life of this precious young man, Gunner, who deals with seizures on a regular basis. Seizure response dogs are a special type of service dog, specifically trained to help someone who has epilepsy or a seizure disorder. The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation is currently fundraising to be able to provide financial assistance to Gunner and Rocket.
Imagine being a 9 year old boy and not being able to do the things that most 9 year old boys do. Gunner is currently not allowed to be alone at any time for his safety and has cameras on him during sleep.
Rocket will bring peace of mind to Gunner's family, knowing that "someone" is always with him. With Rocket's help, he will be able to go outside and play and regain some independence and confidence. Rocket is trained to ring a bell if a seizure occurs during the night, bring emergency medication and turn Gunner on his side during a seizure.
This particular project will provide seizure-response dogs for people living with epilepsy, greatly increasing their chances of surviving life-threatening episodes that may arise. This project will also raise awareness about SUDEP to encourage further support of individuals living with epilepsy, their families, and their communities.
