This project will allow us to relocate one of our trans volunteers whose life is at risk. She has been evicted from her home for staying with her partner (who is known to be gay) and she was threatened by mob attacks. Relocating her is urgent
There are constant threats to our safety, including brutal arrests, violence, and homophobic campaigns against the LGBTIQ+ community in Uganda, coming from both society and legislators. These challenges put LGBTIQ+ people at risk of persecution and threaten our basic human rights. This project will enable our volunteer to relocate to a safe space.
We will provide a safe home, nutrition, and health care to the volunteer who is homeless and at risk of attacks.
The Mbara RISE Foundation provides assistance and information about safety, security, and equal human rights for the LGBTIQ+ community in Uganda. We continue the fight against laws that criminalize homosexuality.
