Thanks so much for helping to provide a safe home for Matialdo*.
Although this microproject wasn’t fully funded, your donations will still make a vital impact.
Matialdo’s mum is still alive but she left Matialdo at the orphanage after his dad was killed in a hurricane. The orphanage hopes to reunite the family in future, but for now they’re looking after him. Matialdo’s a quiet boy, but he loves his food and playing with other children his age.
The HTDC Orphanage does its very best for the children in its care, but the situation in Haiti is even tougher right now than usual. Years of political unrest and the assasination of the President have created chaos and rising prices, and the impacts of Covid-19 on the global economy mean that donations are drying up.
Your donations will be used to help make the next rent payment, and we’ll keep fundraising here on GlobalGiving to cover the overall costs.
We’ll keep updating you about Matialdo and all his friends at the Hands Together to Defend the Children Orphanage through this project’s parent page,Provide a Safe Home for Haitian Orphans. If you ever have any questions about how we're using your donation, please email Andy@IDVolunteers.org. We’d love to hear from you!
*Your donations to this project will cover Matialdo’s share of the costs, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
