The programme will enable a group of 25 youth to acquire a locally made multipurpose herbal soap machine and other products used to make a complete product. Skin diseases have been of major concern recently due to their association with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunity Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), central and Eastern Uganda have the highest HIV infection rate which made them more prone to a wide range of skin conditions.
The project will enable a youth group acquire a locally made herbal soap making machine to fight skin dis orders in their communities.Skin diseases amount to approximately 34% of all occupational diseases encountered in Uganda. They affect people of all ages. Skin diseases have been of major concern recently due to their association with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunity Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS).
This project will train a team of 25 youth who have already formed a group, these youth will be trained to make both bar and liquid herbal soap using locally available herbs like banana peelings,etc, the available land owned by Mountains of Hope will also be used for herbal gardening as well as for making the final product, the youth will sell the product at an affordable cost to the community, this will reduce the infections as well as creating an employment and an income to the youth
The community will have a reduced rate of common skin disorders like rashes,viral infections,bacterial infections,parasitic infections and other conditions, the youth will have gained an employment in the long run.Traditional medicinal resources, especially plants have been found to play a major role in managing skin disorders
