The main goal of this project is to set up an income generating project to ensure over 100 children continue attending school for the longer term. The project is setting up a poultry farm with broiler chicken that will generate monthly income for the childrens organization in Uganda to enable it meet termly school requirements for needy children, all the chidren donot have sponsors. We anticipate this project will create an income stream for the program and reduce the present financial dependency
Beneficiaries are a selection of children of HIV infected needy guardians who cannot afford school fees in rural Uganda. The project aims to produce 300 broilers per cycle that will be graded according to weight 1.2Kgs to 2Kgs and according to customer preferences in the local market in Kampala city. These broilers will either be sold whole (alive) or as cutlets and would be supplied to hotels, restaurants,, supermarkets and to the fast growing middle class individual consumers in our community
The initial investment for the project is estimated to be USD 4,300 Each chicken weighing 2Kgs costs $5; Mountains of Hope will be earning $1,500 every three weeks, if we deduct working capital $557. The average net profit every three weeks is expected to be $943 which is good enough to pay one term school dues for 10 children
The broiler chicken will be supplied to the whole sale chicken sellers in the city center, supermarkets near us, restaurants, and hotels and to individual middle class customers in the urban centers within our region; we will take additional steps to produce quality broilers that potential buyers want. The marketing team will design leaflets and well branded social media adverts to be shared on all social media platforms
