Recognizing World Refugee Week During A Global Pandemic

The time is now: Stand with refugees through COVID-19.

Around the world, refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced persons are living through a global pandemic without a permanent home, attempting to follow social distancing guidelines in crowded camps, and trying to stay healthy with limited access to healthcare.

Our trusted partners haven’t wavered in the face of these staggering obstacles—but they need help to continue their life-saving work. That’s why, during World Refugee Week from June 15, 2020 to June 20, 2020, GlobalGiving is matching the first $750 donated to every participating project supporting refugees and displaced persons across the globe.*

GIVE NOW

With restrictions on movement creating more gaps in international aid, and resettlement efforts by the UNHCR temporarily suspended, giving to local, community-led nonprofit organizations has never been more crucial in the fight to create an equitable future for refugees.

Disaster specialists at GlobalGiving recognize that this incredibly complicated time warrants a unique response—so, thanks to our donors’ generous giving, we’ve already made a round of emergency grants to 10 organizations in the GlobalGiving Syrian Refugee Relief Fund. Of course, as COVID-19 continues to spread, it will become more and more challenging for local and refugee-led organizations to serve their communities without outside support—thankfully, that’s where you come in.

Whether you want to help refugee mothers in Myanmar or amplify refugee education in Malawi, you can make a difference by standing with refugees during World Refugee Week.
